Massage

Remedial & Sports Massage:

It is the regular assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. Whether you are an elite athlete or someone who just loves an active lifestyle, sports massage is used to prevent injuries, prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and help athletes recover from workouts and injury.

Pregnancy Massage:

Prenatal massage is therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. It enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue. The gentle, noninvasive approach of prenatal massage can ease discomfort associated with pregnancy, help the mother-to-be prepare for labor and give her nurturing emotional support.

Deep tissue massage:

It is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia.

Swedish massage:

The primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This technique increase the blood returning to the heart, t’s exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling:

Dry needling is an effective and efficient technique for the treatment of muscular pain and myofascial dysfunction.  Dry needling or intramuscular stimulation (IMS) is a technique developed by Dr. Chan Gunn and is extremely effective for relaxing overactive muscles, which contain trigger points.

In simple terms, the treatment involves needling of a muscle’s trigger points without injecting any substance.

The approach is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles. It should not to be confused with the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) technique of acupuncture. However, since the same filiment needles are used in both dry needling and acupuncture.

Today specifically trained physiotherapists and acupuncturists are using dry needling effectively and extensively within their practices for the treatment of Myofascial Pain & Dysfunction.

Exercise Prescription

Stretching:

Prepares the body for exercise, increases the range of motion and the muscular elasticity. Moreover, the stretching prevents muscle imbalances that can lead to serious injuries.

Balance & Coordination:

Balance is the ability to stay upright or stay in control of body movement, and Coordination is the ability to move two or more body parts under control, smoothly and efficiently. Both of them are fundamental to improve athleticism and performance.

Strength Exercise:

A method of improving muscular strength by gradually increasing the ability to resist force through the use of free weights, machines, or the person’s own body weight. A good muscular strength condition it’s the base for having joints stability to prevent legaments and tendons injuries.

Myofascial Cupping Therapy

Myofascial Cupping:

The Myofascial Cupping Technique involves the gliding of negatively pressurised cups over the body and can be accompanied by joint mobilisation.

It is a very different technique to traditional cupping and importantly, marking the skin is NOT part of the desired treatment outcome.

Unlike all other massage techniques that use compression, it is unique because ‘lifts and separates’ soft tissue, increase nutrient-rich blood supply to the tissue and give a gentle passive stretch to the underlying soft tissue.

Moreover, the Myofascial Cupping Technique assist the body in maintaining Range Of Motion and reducing fascial adhesions commonly found from repetitive movement originating from sports and the workplace.
